Arras Theme applied

As you can probably tell, I’ve altered the layout of the blog a bit, thanks to the excellent Arras Theme from Melvin Lee.

It’s just what I’m looking for, highly configurable, works very well with WordPress widgets, I don’t know how much time he’s put into it, but it’s very, very good.

Just need to sort out my page titles though, as my blog’s name disappears from the front of the page… Ah, maybe ;)

Note that the tweet button has gone from individual posts, but I’ll work on that…

Twitter changes

H’ok, I’m now on Twitter, and I’ve added the Tweet button to each invidual blog post – let’s see what that does :-s

Now I’m definitely going to bed :-)

Blogging from my G2 Touch

Well, that’s all, really – installed the WordPress app onto my phone (Android OS) and away we go :)

Back now…

Hi there, not posted for a while as I had trouble after my upgrade to WordPress 3.0, but we’re back in business now :)

Now, I’m off to make tea :D

The Running Man (flu)

Ok, been ill for a few weeks with that dreaded man-flu, plenty of stuff going on in the news that I need to unload on (Karen Matthews, welfare state, Gordon Brown “saving the world”, Manchester congestion charge, the EU forcing another referendum on Ireland, etc.)…

but I just caught the video for Utah Saints’ Something Good 08. I know it’s been out for ages, but there you go. Anyway, as a chap who’s sole dance move was The Running Man, it spoke to me on a personal level – plus, I’m a sucker for well-choreographed, synchronised dance routines :) Watch and enjoy!

QUALITY :D

I’ve been away…

Lots going on in-between posts: buying a new car as the Astra was crippling my knees, off on holiday to Malta again (slightly ruined by dodgy stomach, most odd), work, shouting at the television, enjoying the Govt meltdown, not enjoying the financial meltdown, making jams and chutneys and tomato ketchup, building a log store…

Ooh, it’s all go ;)

Happy St. George’s Day!

That is all ;) Make sure you wish everyone you meet a happy St. George’s Day – even Number 10 is is flying the flag!

It’s a good day to be in Morley, West Yorkshire for their celebrations (hat tip to Daily Referendum).

Incidentally, nice to see some good English weather for the day – yup, it’s raining ;-)

Merry New Year!

Ok, back to the blog after a very restful and very enjoyable Christmas and New Year.

It was a highly enjoyable Christmas, mostly spent with my excellent in-laws and family, and then a trip down South to visit my mother and sister for a couple of days. My son and my niece played together, and there was no running around screaming or shenanigans which has previously put a damper on the festive spirit.

As for presents, I was lucky enough to receive one of those iPod shuffle things, which I was very surprised about, and very pleased with – it will help me take my mind off how unwell I feel when I start jogging again :)

New Year’s Eve was also a lot of fun, some quick drinks at the in-laws and then back home to set a few fireworks off before my son went to bed. As the TV offerings were not too good for the evening, we watched Rush Hour 3 (not as bad as had been made out, 7/10) and then watched the BBC’s coverage of the bongs (of Big Ben, not stoners) for the last half-hour. The fireworks were phenomenal, very impressive and enjoyable, and it was good to see Gethin Jones presenting that section of the program.

As for new years resolutions, I’ve not made any. I’m not saying I’m perfect and don’t need to change, but rather than write something down and get all bummed out when I don’t meet them, I’ll just keep going as I am :) One thing I do need to do is blog more, as it’s quite cathartic – I also found I ranted a lot less over Christmas, which was good for all concerned ;)

There’s plenty for me to write about, I fancy doing a rather large piece on driving in Britain, and how put upon motorists are, so that will be the next large post, I think. There’s also the usual Government incompetence to comment on and anything else that just hacks me off ;)

But, for the moment, I’d just like to wish you a Merry New Year :D

More absence…

Not been writing much as I was involved in an almost-head-on with a French lorry on the 2nd November. I went round a bend and it was all the way over on my side of the road :( Pics of my poor car are below:

It’s now in the hands of the insurers, as it’s a total loss :(

Ow, my ankle!

As a follow up to the previous post, my 2nd dan did not go as planned :(

Whilst the first part of the grading went ok, I knackered my ankle by landing on it badly whilst doing some bag work. Needless to say, I was not a happy chap, as I will have to do the rest of the grading at some point in the future.

Which means I’ll have to keep fit, instead of gorging myself during the run up to Christmas. I actually bought a four-pack of Peeterman Artois (I’m not much of a drinker) to celebrate finishing the grading, so those will be left untouched until I do…

Meanwhile, I’m still coding up the site for a friend (and I may have a couple more to do), piddling about on the XBox enjoying Stranglehold and falling back in love with Guitar Hero, and generally staying on top of life. I am, obviously, spitting bullets that Gordon Brown sold us down the river in Lisbon, but I believe we are finally in for a change of Government at the next election – thank goodness.

The “I’ve been busy” post

Well, it’s been a while since my last post. Basically, I’ve been training for my 2nd dan and doing a site for a good friend. There is naturally plenty going on in the world that I’d love to give my oh-so-important views on (Burma, Gordon Brown bottling an election, fix term elections, driver’s skill [or lack of it] in Derbyshire, etc.), but until my 2nd dan is over, it’ll have to wait…

Happy New Year

Well, I had a belter of a Christmas, very relaxing, not too much to drink, too much to eat (gained about 4 lbs), saw my family and spent time with the very hospitable in-laws as well. I didn’t find a suitable recipe for a Pina Colada, which I blame solely on the lack of Coco Lopez in this country :( I gratefully received some corking presents (Need For Speed Carbon, rather nice wallet, a donation to the new car), and I hope I gave some good presents as well.

New Year’s Eve was a bit busy, tidying the house, making trifle and cheesecake for the in-laws, finally sat down at 11.30pm with a bottle of bubbly to watch the countdown on Beeb 1, very enjoyable – anyone know how we can get tickets to Somerset House for next year?

Not too many resolutions this year:

  • Stop biting nails
  • Settle debts
  • Become more flexible in my training

Care to share your resolutions? Comment away, and a happy new year to you all :D

First post

Well, here’s my first blog entry… This has been created with WordPress, as I’m sure the tech-savvy people amongst you will have twigged ;) I must thank Dave Woods over at Sitepoint.com for recommending it to me, and the folks at WordPress for making it so simple to install and use.
